A split level venue embedded in the heart of East London; a hub for people with a shared interest in good food, good wine and good times.

Being a place that brings the neighbourhood together it was important to visualise this in Hackney Coterie’s identity. The over exaggerated, close kerning on the logotype represents that coming together of people.

Working closely with the owners to make sure the interiors and communications worked as one, the branding goes beyond a logo and features heavily throughout the venue.

The colour palette was one of the most important details of the brand identity. It had to work harmoniously with the interiors to create a range of communications that flowed with the decor.

Each piece of communication was designed with the various aspects of Hackney Coterie in mind which consists of a wine shop, deli, bakery, bar, restaurant and event space. Having such a vast number of offerings under one roof we settled on a complete mixture of styles, weights and alignments across the menus and advertising to mirror all of these different areas of the venue.

A bold mark that contrasts the elegant logotype represents the two levels and the two names of venue. Continuing with the Coterie description, the lines were placed closely together to accentuate the repetition across the brand.

Solidified a trustworthy visual identity within a local community, creating an instantly recognisable mark for the new neighbourhood hangout.
